I'M BACK

Image result for happy

Hi friends! I've been gone for a while and for the longest time I wasn't sure if blogs were dead or not but then I really didn't care if they were or not. I wanted to get back to sharing the things I love, my recipes and of course home decor. Also it looks like a lot of you are still around checking for updates.

Now let's do a bit of a recap of what I've been doing while I've been gone. Cliff and I have finally stopped traveling for work and we are just loving every minute of being home. I also went back to school and became a Holistic Nutritionist. You all know how much I love food, so taking that road was a no brainer.

I feel like sometimes when you step away and come back, you are flowing with ideas and have a fresh perspective. This is exactly how I feel right now. So let's do this and I will share as I go. I am so excited to be back!!

BEACHY HOUSE TOUR

Beach house! My weakness! I'm sure you have heard me say that time and time again. Well it is true, I think that it is in my blood, I do feel like one with the ocean. Being an island girl, there is nothing like it, I really don't know how to put this into words. This house brings back a lot of good memories for me, of being a little girl and going to the beach, sandy toes, salty air and the feeling of a cool breeze on my  face. There is nothing like it! That is also one of the reason, every year we take a trip to Miami, it is the closest that I can get to the real thing. For now I hope that you enjoy this beautiful house tour.

OUTDOOR INSPIRATIONS

{images via pinterest}

I am so sorry to have been MIA for the past couple of days. I have been pretty busy since the weather has been a dream! I am so planning of enjoying every bit of it. I have been obsessed with the outdoors lately, I am trying to pin and research as much as I can since we are thinking of doing some fun things in our backyard.
I have been trying to find a good balance between modern and cottage! I really want to keep the backyard work to a minimum. I really don't want to be spending the weekends taking care of the flowers, weeds etc… I am sure that you are feeling my pain here! Or is it just me! Ha!
We have hydrangeas that I am so in love with but they have not bloomed in 2 years! I know! They were fine before then they stopped. I am still holding on to the idea that they will bloom, I am giving them 1 more year and I might just pull everything out and make this just a shade garden.
I am so excited to get things going, our backyard has never gotten the attention it needed and I think it's time to it to shine, I might post some pictures on instagram but for now it is just a waiting game until we finalise on the direction we want to go with.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT GUIDE

I cannot believe that mother's day is just around the corner here but fun fact, in Mauritius, it is at the end of May! I bet you didn't know that, right? ;)  I notice that a lot of people do flowers for mother's day, though I adore flowers, I like to think of different things to give for mother's day. There are so many fun things out there and I wanted to share some of my favourites.

ORGANISATION INTERVENTION

That's right! I am doing an intervention on myself. You would not believe the state of my office right now. ( sniff, sniff..) It has become a dumping ground for all the things that are floating around and don't have a designated area yet, from the pretty rug that I snagged from Homegoods, to the baskets that are full of clothes and other items that I need to donate and a lonely cable box that's sitting here ( frankly I don't really know why it's sitting here, I have learnt not to throw things that aren't mine away, long story short during renovating I threw away things we needed to return thus lots of cash out the window)
Anyways I digress, I am absolutely fed up and I get really distracted by all this mess while I'm in there. I really want the office to be a fun and inspiring place for me but more importantly organised. Have I told you that my dream is to get my whole house very organised with pretty labels.
Well this girl has decided to take matters in her own hand now and no more procrastinating especially now that from to time Cliff will be working from home. So I will have to design something where we will both have a work area/ art area/ storage. This should be fun, I will keep you posted. I do have some inspirations via pinterest.

MINI GARDEN

Good morning! I have always loved the idea to going out and picking things from the my own garden. So 3 years ago, Cliff built me a tiny one in the yard. It's 2x3 and just big enough to have my everyday herbs and may be hold 1 or 2 veggie plants. Just as the frost was melting, I added 4 tiny plants and I was thrilled to be able to harvest it yesterday and make a big salad. I was really beaming with pride and now I know how a lot of people feel growing their own food. Don't get me wrong, I am still nowhere near that. Just the fact that I didn't kill it and we got to enjoy it, was more than enough for me. So if you are thinking of doing something small or growing in pots, please do it, it is amazing.

Also because I love anything outdoor, I wanted to share some amazing gardens too.

XOXO

OUTDOOR SPRUCING

Good morning! I am so excited to see all the beautiful trees and flowers starting to bloom around us. I am enjoying every bit of it and I am sure that you are too after this never-ending winter. This weekend everyone in our neighbourhood seemed to be getting ready for the spring/summer. You know, mulching, doing the lawn, cleaning their outdoor area except for us, we had company all week and weekend long and it was so nice to spend time with family. So now that they are gone, it's time to start working outside and you know that I am loving looking for fun things online. ;)

HAPPY FRIDAY AND HAPPY EASTER

I cannot believe that lent is nearly over and Easter is on sunday. That went so fast in a way but when my cravings for all the things I gave up came knocking, it did seem like an eternity. I am so looking forward to Easter, my brother is coming over for dinner which is always nice.  This year I have decided to keep things very simple. In the past , I always end up cooking all day long and by the time guests arrive, I am in the kitchen and miss out on a lot of the fun but most importantly I am exhausted!
So I have decided to listen to Ina Garten, on her show she always says " Your guests are not going to have more fun if you cook everything yourself" Can I get an amen on that!
She is so right and also I want to be present and enjoy everything and everyone. So my plan is to buy a couple of things, like appetizers. I will be baking something for sure but I might do it on saturday while Cliff is at work. Yes! He has to work, poor guy! So when sunday comes, all I have to do it lay everything out and make a delicious cocktail while enjoying the day with my loved ones!  I really hope that you have a wonderful weekend and Happy Easter everyone!

HOUSE TOUR

This house tour is more like an outdoor tour. This place is so whimsical to me, the beautiful landscape, the simplicity of it all. It looks so warm and inviting. It is just perfection and that garden! Breathtaking!
