TURKEY CHILI

Yesterday while I was making snacks and granola for the week, my hubby made dinner. He started making dinner once a week on his days off for the past couple of weeks now.  We love being in the kitchen together and as you know we both are foodies, so we have a lot of fun there. It's usually, listening to music really loud, some funny dance moves mostly from me while prepping the food. If you haven't tried it, you should. Cooking with your spouse is fun and it's a great quality time.
Now getting back to the chili, it's really easy to make. Let's get started!

Ingredients:
1 lbs of ground turkey
2 cans of beans (I used black and pinto)
4 teaspoons of Chugwater chili seasoning ( or my homemade seasoning)***
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
2 tablespoons of onion powder
1 can of tomato purée (16 oz)
Salt and pepper
Cilantro (chopped)
Green onion (chopped)
Extra sharp cheese (grated)
Pepper Jack cheese (grated)

***Chili seasoning:
2 tablespoons of chili powder
1 tablespoon of cumin
1 tablespoon of ground coriander
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
2 tablespoons of onion powder
2 tablespoons of smoked sweet paprika
Mix it all up and keep it in an airtight container

Directions:
Put some oil in a pot, add the turkey until it is nice and brown
Add the chili seasoning, the onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Make sure the turkey is all coated and dark brown, add the tomato, the beans, and 2 cups of water
Give it a good stir, reduce the heat and cover.
let it simmer for 30 mins
When the chili is ready you will see it become nice and thick. Taste it and adjust the seasoning if need be.
Serve it with the cheese, cilantro, green onions and sour cream.
I also like to add some fresh spinach on top.
