MICROWAVE CAKE DISASTER

I have been seeing the microwave cake for a while now around pinterest and really wanted to try it this weekend since I had a major sweet tooth. I thought to myself that if this was a successful I would share it with you guys and tell you how it was life-changing. Making a cake in the microwave in 9 mins and you can enjoy dessert on a late night!? Totally amazing, right? I mean, look at it, looks delicious!

I followed all the instructions and put it to cook in the microwave and it was doing its thing and smelt amazing. Then all of a sudden, I started to smell something, went in the kitchen and saw so much smoke. I thought for a minute that my microwave would catch fire. The cake was rock hard and looked like charcoal.  Culprit listed below.

We had to open all the doors and windows in the house to let it air out and as I am sitting here, writing this, the house still smells like smoke. Since I share everything here, I thought I would tell you about this disaster. I am definitely not making one of those again, I will keep it old school and bake normally. As for the smoke and the smell, we tried almost every hack to get rid of it , the only thing that worked a little bit was this homemade potpourri. So I will keep making it until the smell is gone.

On a fun note, this potpourri smells amazing, I usually do it once a month. You just let it simmer on very low heat for about 2-3 hours. It is from the William Sonoma website and only 3 ingredients: water, 1 rosemary sprig, 1 lemon sliced and couple dash of vanilla extract. Cliff thinks it smells like Thanksgiving ;)
