SHRIMP AND FISH SZECHUAN

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? Well today's recipe was not meant to be on the blog as I did it in a hurry with no pictures (sorry about that!)  except for the final outcome. Last week when we were grocery shopping, I came across TomTom sauce ( you can find it at wegmans). I usually am not one to use already made sauce because let's face it they don't taste that good and you can usually recreate it at home and make it better for you. We were in a hurry and I figured that I would give it a try and I could get dinner ready really fast . Can I just say how happy I am to have grabbed that thing, It tastes delicious! Absolutely yummy!

Ingredients:
1/2 lbs of shrimp (cleaned and deveined)
1 tilapia filet (any mild white fish will do or you can do just shrimp or just fish)
1 tablespoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
salt & pepper
1/4 cup  or more of all purpose flour
 1 jar of tomtom sauce
Green onion

Direction:
  • Cut the fish in chucks.
  • Season the fish and shrimp with the salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder
  • Give it a good mix
  • Add the flour to them, mix it all very well
  • If the seafood isn't well coated with the flour, add a little more
  • Let it stand for 5 mins
  • In a warm pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and add the shrimp first one by one in small batches about 5 at a time.
  • When the shrimp start turning pink , you know it's time to turn them and when they are cooked, remove them from the pan and set them on a plate. They should be nice and crispy!
  • Do the same with the fish, cooking them in batches and put them on plate when they are cooked.
  • Reduce the heat, add everything back in the pan, add the sauce, give it a good stir and let it simmer for 2-3 mins.
  • Top with some green onions and serve!
