FRONT PORCH PLANTING INSPIRATION

The driveway has been poured and is curing, I cannot wait to see it all when the concrete dries and it looks spectacular. We have so much work ahead of us, front landscaping, back landscaping, finishing the front porch, doing the walkway but who is counting, right? Ha! I am beyond excited about how all this work has changed our little cottage. Now onto the front landscaping, I love the idea of a maintenance free flower bed. I love the pictures above, it is the garden in front of Isabel Marant's store in LA. Unfortunately a lot of the plants shown above will not survive here with our cold winters. So my plan is to try to mix things up a bit, a bit of traditional perennials that we have here and some members of the cactus family that will survive here. So far it's not looking that bad, I am just trying to take all the inspirations that I can and then get to work. I hope that you all have a nice weekend, we are planning to have a long relaxing weekend,  recover from all the nonstop construction of the past month and take our time with the rest. Who knows, this will give me time to change my mind once or twice about the landscaping idea! Ha!

OUTDOOR INSPIRATIONS

{images via pinterest}

I am so sorry to have been MIA for the past couple of days. I have been pretty busy since the weather has been a dream! I am so planning of enjoying every bit of it. I have been obsessed with the outdoors lately, I am trying to pin and research as much as I can since we are thinking of doing some fun things in our backyard.
I have been trying to find a good balance between modern and cottage! I really want to keep the backyard work to a minimum. I really don't want to be spending the weekends taking care of the flowers, weeds etc… I am sure that you are feeling my pain here! Or is it just me! Ha!
We have hydrangeas that I am so in love with but they have not bloomed in 2 years! I know! They were fine before then they stopped. I am still holding on to the idea that they will bloom, I am giving them 1 more year and I might just pull everything out and make this just a shade garden.
I am so excited to get things going, our backyard has never gotten the attention it needed and I think it's time to it to shine, I might post some pictures on instagram but for now it is just a waiting game until we finalise on the direction we want to go with.
